Darwin | From the Big Picture to Reality

A Double Presentation Breakfast

Can you even think of a time before we had a rail connection from Alice to Darwin?  National projects are important for us all, but how do they progress?  What is being proposed?

  • Project Iron Boomerang Speaker: Will Jefferies
  • NTG Major Projects & National Infrastructure development - Speaker: Louise McCormick

Project Iron Boomerang (PIB) is not just a project; it's Australia's #1 nation-building endeavour. This ambitious project aims to connect the Pilbara iron ore fields with the Bowen Basin metallurgical coal fields through a 3,300km rail line. It's more than a rail line; it's a bridge to the future, featuring:

  • The world's largest steel supply chain,
  • Strategic connectivity for Northern Territory,
  • Potential to revolutionise industries with secondary gas, water, and fibre optic pipelines,
  • The PIB rail will provide access to previously isolated mining opportunities, increasing trade and tangible benefits for remote communities.

Will is an Advisor/Analyst to Project Iron Boomerang and a passionate advocate for reindustrialisation and the mining sector.

He has held roles as Senior Producer and Scriptwriter for Australia's #1 talkback radio show at 2GB Radio, Co-Chair of the Sydney Mining Club, and stakeholder in a tin and rare earth mine in Far North Queensland.

Louise McCormick is the Infrastructure Commissioner for the Northern Territory, whose role is to actively pursue investment and drive major projects in the Territory, champion the needs for infrastructure funding at a national level, delivering the public infrastructure needed to secure the critically important job-creating projects.

Louise will be discussing the current NT major projects, and most importantly how they are progressed from ideas to reality.

  • Government Officials from the Northern Territory and Federal Sectors.

  • This project will create jobs & growth in the economy of the Northern Territory and Australia, putting Australia back on the world map as a steel producer and manufacturer.
  • PIB will result in extensive job opportunities in steel processing, manufacturing, and indirect employment sectors, contributing significantly to Australia's economic diversification and resilience.
  • High-Tech Manufacturing: Understand Australia's potential leap in complex manufacturing, addressing the urgent need for investment in high-tech, value, and quality manufacturing.
