BRETT HAGAN Vice President Finance
Brett joined the Insurance Industry in 1980 with the Territory Insurance Office (TIO), working progressively through Underwriting, Claims and Accounts. Since then he has gone on to work in the industry with Marsh and MMI before starting his own broking business and being appointed the preferred Insurance Adviser to the Northern Territory Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. In 1997 Brett joined the newly formed Insurance Advisernet Australia (IAA) network enabling him to access the national buying power of a major insurance advising group whilst maintaining his personal approach when assisting clients. Brett has chosen to focus on being the employer’s advocate when dealing with insurers and other stake holders. His aim is to ensure, where possible, the employer is kept fully informed of claim developments.
In 2010 Brett became a Corporate Authorized Representative of IAA and changed his trading name to Insurance Risk Solutions. He still provides the same quality level of service that clients expect and hopes to better reflect that his is a proud Territory owned and operated business.
Brett’s involvement with the Chamber dates back to the mid 1980’s and if elected as a board member he would like the Chamber to refocus its activities and provide more relevant services to small business members across the NT whilst still being able to suitably represent and meet the needs of larger members. Being a small business owner himself and having worked in Darwin and Alice Springs establishing and building his business, Brett understands many of the obstacles small business owners face and would like the Chamber to ultimately become the first point of contact for new and establishing businesses when they need advice and assistance.
