Role of the Board
The Chamber Board, Management and Staff are committed to the good governance of the Chamber and to ensure the Chamber is managed professionally, ethically and efficiently. The powers of the Chamber and Board shall be in accordance with the Constitution. Accountability shall be in accordance with the NT Incorporation Act and any other relevant regulations.

Board Members are elected by the whole of the membership from any and all regions of the Northern Territory. General Council Members are made up of the Chairman of each Council and each Regional Executive Committee.

The Board and General Council's responsibility is to the members of the Chamber with a view to the Chamber being managed professionally in a businesslike manner by:

- Providing strategic direction and adopting a corporate strategy 
- Identifying the principal risks of the Chamber's business 
- Monitoring the conduct and performance of the organisation and of senior management
- Ensuring that appropriate procedures are in place so that the business of the Chamber is conducted in an honest, open and ethical manner
- Ensuring the Chamber has proper financial planning processes in place and monitoring ongoing financial performance
- Appointing the Chief Executive Officer
- Ensuring that there are adequate plans and procedures for succession planning. 

Achievements
The Chamber is proud of it's achievements in representing members and ensuring that the business community has a strong voice in raising issues close to the heart of Territory business.

- Communication to members by newsletter on a regular basis providing valuable information on taxation, industrial relations, training and trade opportunities. These include The Voice - the official magazine of the Chamber of Commerce, with 1,600 copies published quarterly; The Chamber RoundUp, a fortnightly newsletter published regionally,  Manufacts; IBC Update and Trade Opportunities newsletter
- Regular networking functions allowing members to promote their goods and services and meet their colleagues informally, including Business @ Sunset; The Chamber Golf Day; NT Budget Luncheon; lunches and breakfast functions
- The annual Chamber Gala Dinner, held annually in Darwin
